This blog post is all about how to romanticize fall in your home. You can do so many little things to make fall something to look forward to!
I used to dread fall because I live in a cold climate. The days would get shorter, darker, and colder. I would seriously grieve the end of summer. But last year I decided that I was going to start falling in love with fall (see what I did there?). After all, fall is a reality every year and I am not planning to move to a tropical country anytime soon.
I did everything I could to make the season feel as cozy as possible. And guess what? It worked! I have actually started to appreciate fall. I might even have become a fall person. There’s actually a lot of beauty to be found during this time, and it’s one of the coziest seasons in my opinion. Let’s get into the tips on romanticizing fall in your home!
How to Romanticize Fall in Your Home
1. Make Apple Pies
Fall is harvest time and there are so many different kinds of fruits that are in season during fall. We have a lot of apple trees on our farm, and last year I probably made apple pie once a week all throughout September and into August. Apple crumble pie with cinnamon is my favorite. It is easy to make, tastes delicious, and makes your home smell amazing. It also has a tendency to make the people around you very happy, which is always a bonus 😉
2. Decorate With a Fall Wreath
Decorate your front door with a fall garland to set the scene for the new season. There are many ways to DIY this kind of wreath. You could use pinecones, decorative pumpkins, fall-colored foliage and so much more. Check out this blog post I wrote about fall wall-hanging ideas for inspiration!
3. Always Have a Playlist Going
Music can completely change the atmosphere in a room. Make a playlist featuring your favorite songs that remind you of fall, and have it playing in the background whenever you are cooking, cleaning, or doing other chores around the house.
4. Light Candles to Make it Cozy
Candles are a must during the fall season. Especially during dark and cold evenings. Of course, you could light any kind of candle, but scented candles that smell like spices, cinnamon, and apples are especially nice. I also really enjoy beeswax candles because they are 100% natural, and they purify the air in a room.
5. Keep Warm Blankets Around the House
Keep some warm and cozy blankets in a basket next to seating areas where people like to hang out. I love having a warm blanket to cuddle into while watching fall movies or reading books in the evenings!
6. Make Hot Drinks Every Day
Make tea or coffee every single day, preferably multiple times a day. I’m personally a tea person and I think there’s something really nice about having a warm drink in your hand to sip on during the cooler seasons. If you want to do something extra, you could make some rich, tasty hot chocolate with toppings such as whipped cream or mini marshmallows. Or maybe a hot apple cider? Yum!
7. Decorate Your House for Fall
Have fun with decorating your home for fall. Switch out your throw pillows. Make a fall-inspired centerpiece. Redecorate your bookshelves. There are so many ways to decorate for fall!
