Aaah, spring is here. Finally! I used to not care so much about the different seasons but the older I get, the more I appreciate them (cheesy, I knowww). We’ve had such a long and dark winter here in Norway. I am SO ready for spring to take over. In this blog post, we’ll be taking a look at 7 fun things you can do when getting your home ready for spring!
I don’t know why but I always get the urge to redo my entire house when the days start getting longer and lighter. But let’s be realistic here: we can’t renovate our homes every time the weather starts getting warmer. We can, however, refresh our homes in budget-friendly ways.
Here are 7 things you can do this year to get your home ready for spring:
Getting Your Home Ready for Spring
1. Do Some Decluttering
Over the winter months, things can end up piling up around the house. Why not do a spring declutter? Put away thick sweaters and winter clothes. Donate items you no longer use. Go through your makeup drawer and throw away old makeup. Reorganize your kitchen and get rid of ingredients that have expired. Afterward, you’ll feel so much lighter.
2. Switch Out Your Textiles
Spring calls for light and airy fabrics. Floral and colorful prints. A great way to make your home feel like spring is to switch out textiles like pillowcases, bedding, and curtains. The heavier wool blankets and dark-colored curtains can be switched out with soft muslin throws and airy curtains for the warmer months!
3. Fill Your Home With Flowers
Go to your local flower shop or farmers market and pick up some flowers for your home. I promise it will make your home feel so fresh. Flowers are such a great natural decor item for any room of the house.
4. Do a Deep Clean of Your Home
Do a spring cleaning session in every room in your house. Thoroughly mop the floors, and wipe down window sills, lamps, and furniture. Vacuum your couch, bed, carpets, and rugs. Throw your sheets and pillowcases in the washing machine. Take some time to really deep clean your bathroom as well. The drain, the shower head, the faucets; make everything sparkle. A clean home feels so good, and you’ll be so happy you took the time.
5. Spring-Themed Wall Art
Wall art is something that makes a huge impact in a room. For spring, you could hang floral prints or pastel-colored paintings. Maybe you even want to make your own DIY wall art for spring? This time of year is a great time to start a creative project!
6. Burn Candles with Fresh Scents
Candles are always a good idea, also in spring. Even though there is more natural light during springtime, candles always add a little extra cozy vibe. Light natural, scented candles in your home with floral and fresh fragrance.
7. Restock Your Kitchen Cabinets
In winter we crave warm drinks like hot chocolate and tea. Prepare yourself for the warmer months by getting your kitchen cabinets and fridge stocked with ingredients to make refreshing drinks like iced teas, lemonade, and iced coffee.
